Up Queen Charlotte

If you haven’t got a bucket list then go out and buy a bucket, take a piece of paper and write “travel up Queen Charlotte Sound to Picton on the South Island of New Zealand” and place the piece of paper in the bucket.

We left Wellington at lunchtime in glorious sunshine and sailed out into the Cook Strait past some of the most dangerous and notorious reefs.

It took about 2 hours and a bit to enter Queen Charlotte Sound and, well, we were left speechless. It is glorious, we spent the next hour or so just smiling at each other because it is breathtaking.

And then the great gods (I know, I know) of Meteorology decided to put on a light show for us with the most beautiful “Mother of Pearl” or iridescent altocumulus clouds.

The big “A” in the picture is for “A Welcome to South Island”

No it’s not!
